A journey through the history of the festival
Founded in 2019, Andaras Traveling Film Festival is a traveling film festival dedicated to travel cinema and contemporary narratives of the world through the eyes of others.
Born in the South-West of Sardinia, between Fluminimaggiore, Buggerru and Iglesias, in the heart of the Cost of the Mines, the festival has established itself over the years as one of the most original and distinctive cultural realities in the panorama of Italian independent festivals .
“Andaras,” in the Sardinian language, means to travel, but it also recalls the ancient paths of shepherds and miners: from this word takes shape the deep identity of the festival, which interprets travel not only as geographical movement, but as an experience of transformation, relationship, inner and cultural discovery. Cinema thus becomes a tool for knowledge of the world and of oneself, capable of putting local communities and global imaginaries into dialogue.
Ulysses travelled, today's migrants travel like ours did yesterday, cruise tourists travel and those who go around the world to earn a living, solitary sailors and NGO volunteers, journalists and writers, photographers and directors who want to tell the story of the world.
Andaras Traveling Film Festival is dedicated to all those for whom traveling the world is the shortest route to themselves. At the same time, the festival aims to be a showcase for promoting the scenic, archaeological, and cultural beauty of the Fluminese territory in Italy and abroad.
A network that unites views and paths
Vision
To be a widespread cultural network, both physical and digital, capable of connecting territories, authors, and audiences through cinema. A moving system that fosters the convergence of diverse perspectives and helps redefine travel narratives as a contemporary and shared experience.

Beyond borders, within stories
Mission
Bringing cinema to decentralized territories by creating opportunities for local communities to meet international vision. Bridging geographic and cultural distances not as an abstract statement, but through concrete practices: screenings, training, dialogue, and presence.
Meeting in differences
Values
We promote an open and accessible culture, founded on listening and discussion. We believe in the diversity of perspectives as a resource, in the capacity of peripheral territories to be active spaces for cultural production, and in cinema as a language capable of restoring complexity to an often simplified reality.

Guests
