Tuesday, June 30, 2026 – Opening Night of the 8th Edition

Every journey has a starting point. For Andaras, the beginning takes shape through an evening that brings together some of the elements that have always defined the festival: cinema, storytelling, visual arts and the territory itself.

The opening of the eighth edition will offer a first opportunity for the local community, guests and audiences to come together through a programme that crosses different artistic languages and sets the stage for the days ahead.

Before the screenings begin, the festival will open to new forms of storytelling with La Bella Corine, a photographic exhibition curated by Alberto Masala. The evening will then continue with a journey into imagination through the presentation of Devo andare nello spazio, the graphic novel by Riccardo Atzeni, published by Bao Publishing.

A day designed to remind us that Andaras is a place where stories, people and cultures find opportunities for dialogue. A place of departure before arrival, where borders become possibilities for encounter and discovery.

La Bella Corine

Landscapes from Sardinia

Photographic Exhibition Curated by Alberto Masala

07:00 PM / Fluminimaggiore, Parco Riola

La Bella Corine emerges from the meeting point between science, photography and landscape. Through aerial images created as part of the Sardinia Land Cover project, the exhibition observes Sardinia from an unusual perspective, transforming the territory into a tapestry of shapes, colours and striking geometries.

Cultivated fields, forests, salt pans, quarries, infrastructure, waterways and human settlements become elements of a collective narrative, revealing how nature and human activity have shaped the island over time. Each photograph represents a different category of land use and land cover, offering visitors a perspective that is both aesthetic and informative on the Sardinian landscape.

The exhibition invites viewers to look at the territory not merely as a backdrop, but as a living, complex and constantly evolving organism, where every trace tells a story about the relationship between environment, history and community.

Alberto Masala

Born in Muravera, Sardinia, in 1980, Alberto Masala has always been passionate about sports and outdoor life. After graduating from the Scientific High School in his hometown, he moved to Cagliari, where he earned a degree in Geological Sciences in 2005 with a thesis focused on landscape studies.

During his first years in the city, he discovered photography, which quickly became a true passion. Through curiosity and dedication, photography gradually evolved into his profession, while he continued to pursue personal projects related to ecology, environment and landscape.

In 2010, he co-founded "Sky Survey System", a company specializing in aerial photography and videography through the use of drones.

“Devo andare nello spazio”

Riccardo Atzeni

Presentation of the Graphic Novel

Published by Bao Publishing

07:45 PM / Fluminimaggiore, Parco Riola

Riccardo Atzeni makes his debut as a complete author with a story about absent fathers, spam-obsessed psychoanalysts, risqué photographs lost in space, untold truths that threaten to explode inside those unable to express them, and a bittersweet irony that makes this beautifully written, illustrated and coloured work unforgettable.

Every day, Mocci travels into space searching for the things people have lost. It is a serious job, poorly paid, and where the worst thing that can happen is receiving negative reviews from dissatisfied customers. Yet it is also a convenient excuse to avoid facing the thing that hurts him the most. A story about the difficulty of looking inward when fear takes over, and about the importance of forgiveness—both of others and of oneself.

Riccardo Atzeni

Riccardo Atzeni (rikatz), originally from Pirri and now based in Cagliari, was born in 1981. He works as an illustrator, animator and comic artist. He has created comics and illustrations for Bompiani, Fumetti di Domani Editoriale and 7 del Corriere. As an animator, concept artist and art director, he has worked on several independent animated short films.

In 2021, Panini published "Saetta Rossa", written by Marco B. Bucci and illustrated by Atzeni. He also created the illustrations for "Signor Salsiccia", the novel written by Flavio Soriga and published by Bompiani. Together with Chiara Lamieri, Barbara Pirisi and Elena Cabitza, he is part of the Sardinian collective studioITTE. "Devo Andare Nello Spazio" (Bao Publishing) is his first work as both writer and illustrator.
